What Are The Reasons Of Having Hard Lump On Inner Leg Which Is Spreading, Chills And Excessive Sweating?

My partner is 43 & has been in substantial pain for the past 5 days, getting progressively worse. He noticed a hard lump at the top of his inner leg about a week ago. It started small but has grown & the hard inflammation has spread into his scrotum & the top of his other leg. Over the counter painkillers are not helping. Other symptoms he has experienced over the past few days are chills and / or excessive sweating.

As you mentioned that there is a hard lump and increasing in size on the inner part of thigh .
Patient is also feeling chills and severe pain with sweating .
This is a clear indication that lump may be .
1 Abscess ( infection in the part ) because patient is feeling pain and sweating with chills .For this type of abscess I would suggest a pain relieving medicine like ibuprofen 600 mg ( if not allergic to ) for 4-5 days with some antibiotics like cloxacillin 500 mg twice in day.
As these medicines are prescription medicines so please consult a physician and get his help.
2 Ingrown hair may be the next reason and treatment is same as mentioned above.
3 As you mentioned that your partner is 43 years so may be a case of cellulitis .
For this you must consult a surgeon and get his help ,if don't get relief with antibiotics and ibuprofen as mentioned in no 1 & 2.
