What Are The Repercussions Of Accidental Inhalation Of Partially Dissolved Nicotine Lozenge?
Hi. I inhaled a partially dissolved nicotine lozenge. Of course, I got into a coughing fit so I went into bathroom and leaned over the toilet so that my chest cavity was upside down somewhat. The lozenge eventually came out. This happened about 10 minutes ago. I still have discomfort and still caughing. Wheezing a little also. I used my asthma inhaler. Is there anything else I should do?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..
As per your complain as you have inhaled a partially dissolved lozenge it has led to irritation and mild injury to the lining of the respiratory tract and there might be constriction of bronchioles due to foreign body and all is leading to coughing and discomfort..
As the lozenge has came out it is a really good sign and you need not to worry as gradually the symptoms will resolve..
As of now you can take cough suppressants, do steam inhalations and also take steroid inhalers that you are already doing..
In case if the symptoms does not improve in 2 to 3 days consult a Pulmonologist and get evaluated..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
