Hello I been having some problems I had the mirena implated 6 yrs ago I had it taken out last may 2014, and started on birth control pills while on them I started having a menstrual cycle like every 3 to 5 days so I switch over to the depo shot and still having the same issue, I called the doctor and they are telling me this is normal without even checking it out can someone please help me ??
Hello, Firstly, this sort of irregular bleeding is definitely not normal. When you switch hormone contraceptives, it is usual for hormone imbalances to occur and as a result, breakthrough bleeding occurs. This can happen for 2-3 months until the body adjusts to the new hormone levels. If you happened to switch contraceptive earlier than 3 months, this problem would persist. In the current scenario you need to get hormone profiles, blood counts including coagulation profile and liver function assay. Further management can be planned accordingly. Hope this helps.
