Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I am S.V. RAO, Age-49 yrs., Myself was taking METOCARD XL-25 for my HTN. Recently, on a visit to Doctor (cardiologist), he has changed my BP medicine to OLMY H (20). Started taking from yesterday. After taking the medicine some uneasiness feeling is there and pain not always in the back and left hand. Is it the effect of new BP medicine. I am also taking THYRONORM 50 AND NEKSUI(40) for gas. Pls advise.
Welcome to HCM and thank you for the query. I understand your concern. Two changes have happened. 1. You stopped the Metocard ( Metoprolol) and 2. Started on Olmy ( Olmesartan). Metocard in addition to its benefit for blood pressure has benefit in coronary heart disease. Stoppage of the metocard suddenly may precipitate a cardiac pain, if you have coronary heart disease. On the other hand the side effect of Olmesartan can be muscle pain, chest pain , lack of energy or dizziness. You should contact your doctor and seek his advice. If you are not able to get him and if you have Metocard, you could try restarting it and see if the symptoms disappear. If symptoms get worse or if you have sweating or breathlessness you should go to the ER. Take Care Dr. Noble Zachariah
