What Are The Side Effects Of Thyrowel And How Long To Use It?
Dear Sir,
I am 42 years old and I had done the TSH test twice in the last 30 days. My TSH initially was 6.23 and after being on Thyrowel for about 4 weeks, my TSH is showing 5.89 and these are against a normal value shown as 5.6 in my report.I have been recommended tablets for Thyroid , namely Thyronorm 25mcg. I have two queries:
1. What are the side effects of the treatment for thyroid ?
2. Do i need to take this medicine throughout my life ?
Regards

Hello, Welcome to HCM Thanks for posting your query in HCM. Answer for your first question:As such there are no side effects of the drug you are taking. Its just the replacement of thyroid hormones that are deficient in your body.
Answer for your second question:TSH levels shoot up whenever there is increased demand of thyroid hormones in the body as in menarche-pubertal age group and pregnancy. As your TSH levels are borderline high, there is no need to take this medication life long.It will come down in a matter of months.
You do check your thyroid profile once in 3 months and confirm the normal levels.
Hope you are happy with the answer.
Thank you
