Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I took my Zoloft today, and apparently didn't drink enough water when taking it. It felt like it was burning my chest and throat, and now it's hard to eat/drink because it hurts so bad. I almost threw up at one point. Could I have done any severe damage?
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. Zoloft is Sertraline and the drug is a SSRI drug which is commonly used in depression and anxiety. If we consider safety of this drug then the drug is one of safest SSRI drug. You have taken the drug without enough water and probably the drug remained for some time in oesophagus. This caused the feeling of burning in chest, throat and feeling like you would throw up. The drug has probably dissolved and has passed to stomach till now. No need to worry you haven't done any damage. You are absolutely normal. Drink plenty of water.
Thanks, Hope this helps you.
