What Are The Side Effects Of Acamprol Tablet ?
my husband used to drink alcohol occasionally since 2000(5 years before our marriage in 2995) .since last 2 years alcohol has become his weakness due to which he drinks wine often(4-5 times a week).We consulted psychiatrist at Vimhans who has prescribed him acamprol tablet(thrice a day) but he feels sleepy after consuming the medicine and has lost interst in physical relation ship with the wife. Could you please tell something about the side effects of this medicine ,should he continue with the medicine for 2 months although he has not touched alcohol since 1 month?

Sleepiness and loss of libido are common after taking acamprol.
Because The side effects of acamprol are few and mild and also because it is not addictive,acamprol is generally prescribed for up to 12 months after ceasing alcohol.
You must continue the drug and Any premature withdrawal of drug may result in rebound bouts of alcoholism.
Bear with few side effects and let the treatment be proper.
