Hi,
Benadryl contains
diphenhydramine which belongs to the group of medications known as antihistamines is used to treat allergies, asthma,
common cold, cough etc. Its side effects are nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea or
constipation, drowsiness, headache, loss of appetite,
stomach upset, difficulty in micturition, confusion, agitation,
nervousness, tremor, weakness, tiredness, irregular heartbeat, unusual bruising, changes in vision, allergic reactions etc. Taking Benadryl to help you get to sleep okay in small doses once in a while but again, it doesn't lead to better quality sleep. Because, Benadryl can peer pressure your body to spend more time in the lighter stages of sleep, the eight hours you clock in bed might end up feeling more like five. If your insomnia persist or bother you, you should consult your doctor promptly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Zubayer Alam, General And Family Physician,
