What Are The Side Effects Of Co-amoxiclav Tablets?
Hi doc im 18 went to the doc as i was in pain when passing urine, he tested and found a trace of puss so put me on a 3 day course of trimethoprim but that didnt do anything so now i am day 3 of my co-amoxiclav 250/125mg tablets and i had blood in my urine and still in alot of pain even without going for a wee, and im defiantly not on my period the blood is in my urine! any help?
Most lower urinary tract infections (LUTI) get better within the first few days. Treatment with drugs like Amoxicillin - Clavulanate may require more time than with other drugs (like quinolones). When the treatment seems to fail, the diagnosis may be reconsidered. If the most likely diagnosis continues to be a LUTI then the next step -regarding treatment- will be a quinolone like Ciprofloxacin - unless contraindicated. A urine culture may help sometimes. Please keep in mind that having taken antibiotics before giving the urine sample is against a positive culture even when a pathogen is present.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
