What Are The Side Effects Of Depo Shots?

Had a baby 8 mos ago (natural delivery) had some minor cramps in between cycles since. Just started depo the cramps are much worse now is that normal? I see I have the spotting side effect which is odd, I ve been on the depo before my baby for like ten years never had any problem with it.
