Hi,

It is more or less a safe drug but just like others, it has side effects due to its sodium bisulphite component. Side effects of it are Headache. Rash. diarrhea. Feeling or being sick. Fever (pyrexia) and an extreme allergic reaction (anaphylaxis), sedation and seizures.

It is used for capillary hemorrhage, neonatal intraventricular hemorrhage, hematuria, epistaxis, secondary bleeding due to thrombocytopenia and other bleeding disorders. I usually prescribe it for 5 to 7 days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
