Hi, I am 52 years old and recently went off birth control. The doctor that has seen me recently took me off because she felt I shouldn t be on birth controI. Risk of strokes and whatever else. I was having a lot of bleeding and cramps during cycle. They did an unltrasound and found one good size fibroid tumor sorry I m not sure of the size. Then I had an Endometiral biopsy and had a Merena IUD put in to help with thinning lining, and birth control. I had a pap smear also that day, which was not normal. So then she had me come back in and had a coloposcopy, that came out okay, and also did blood work on me to determine where I was in menapause. I blood work showed I am in post meanapause, so this past Friday I had the IUD removed, thinking I would be done with my periods, but I started today with bad cramping. Maybe I should have kept the merena in! I am just very confused and I think my body is as well, any suggestions. My doctor said I couldn t get pregnant now that I am in post menapause, I think she should have done the blood work in the beginning of all these appointments.
