What Are The Side Effects Of Emergency Contraceptive Pills?

Hi, My girlfriend recently had her period and started her new birth control pack. She took the first two pills and then missed day 3 and 4. On the 5th day (today) she took pills 4 and 5. But ultimately skipped pill 3 due to the fact the packaging said not to take 3. As of today she started bleeding again (bleeding about the same consist flow of her normal period); We had intercourse twice in the time of 5 days after her initial cycle. I m wondering what the cause of the second bleeding could be?

Hi,
I understand your query.
* Emergency contraceptive is a hormonal preparation ( pill) which is taken within 72 hours of an unprotected sex.It is mostly well tollarated by most of the woman.
some woman do have side effects like- nausea, vomiting, dizziness, abdominal pain, fatigue, head ache, breast tenderness, menstrual changes.
* I think your girl friend is taking monthly cyclical contraceptive pills. These pills contain hormones, which need to be consumed strictly as advised ( To be taken daily, at a fixed tme, without a break) for it's best action.
- Your girl friend had taken them very irregularly. This has resulted in hormonal imbalance & Second bleeding in the month.
Please know about the product & instructions for use carefully before starting the next pack.
- She should use additional contraception( condom/spermicides) during this month to avoid accidental conception
Thanks.
