What Are The Side Effects Of Hyperthyroidism And Gynecomastia?
Hi, i'm a 29 yo male weighing 140 kg and i have a question about hyperthyroidism and gynecomastia, i was diagnosed as a hyperthyroid about a year ago and i''ve been taking NeoMercazole since then. My thyroide is getting better as my last results showed, but i have a very unusual enlargement in my chest area which is causing me a huge embarressement and extreme depression. I thought that my case will get better when my thyroid is acting normal, but i guess now it's getting worse and worse over time. Please help, and thanks a lot for your help.
Hello, I carefully went through your query and i can understand your concern. Gynecomastia developed at your age must be explored further to exclude any probable cause. Since the thyroid hormones result to be within the normal ranges under treatment this can not be the cause. It may be a pituitary tumor secreting prolactin, a testicular tumor secretin estrogen or a gonadal insuficiency. If all the exams result to be normal than it is called idiopatic and you may do an estetic surgery.
The exams recommended in your case are; -prolactin level -testosterone, estradiol and FSH -cea -hcg level -ultrasound of the testicles and breast. Hope the information is helpful and remain open for further suggestions.
Kind regards, Dr.M.Guni
