Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am concerned about the long term side effects of Rapaflo. I started taking it in the last month and am experiencing a loss of ejaculate as well as testicular pain following intercourse. What would happen if I stopped taking it for a few days? Would my symptoms return as before or worst? Thank you.
Rapaflo (silodosin) is an alpha1A-adrenergic blocker used to improve urination in patients with an enlarged prostate. Based on the history you seem to have developed retrograde ejaculation which is an important and common side effect of rapaflo.
You must inform your doctor for an alternate effective but a safer medicine for the treatment of symptoms of enlarged prostate. If you stop taking it for a few days your symptoms are likely to return.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
