What Are The Side Effects Of Taking Tapazole 5mg?

My thyroid is bouncing over and underactive, just figured out had thyroid problems,doc told my stop taking tapozole and lets monitor,I have to wait weeks in between appointments,I feel like I should just take the meds,5mg tap. What side effects could be expected?

Question : What are the side effects of taking Tapazole 5mg?
Answer : Methimazole (Tapazole) can have the following side effects

1. Agranulocytosis, which can occur in up to 0.2% of patients which is dose related and usually occurs during the first few weeks of therapy but may occur later.
2. Patients should be warned to report immediately sore throat or fever that may herald the onset of this reaction.
3. Urticarial rash that often subsides spontaneously without drug discontinuation
4. Arthralgias,
5. Paresthesias,
6. Headache,
7. Nausea,
8. Skin pigmentation
9. Hair loss.
10. Drug fever,
11. Hepatitis
12. Nephritis
