My son is in his second full day of erythromycin and he is having pretty bad nausea. he hasn't thrown up but he can't eat. Should he continue taking them? Also he was also prescribed a cough med with codeine and some motrin. He hasn't taken them because of his stomach. Should he not take them?

Hello,
Your son has been prescribed erythromycin which is an antibiotic mainly used to treat throat infection.lt has certain general side effects like stomach upset and pain, loose motions etc. So dont stop the treatment, infact have some acidity lowering tablet with it like omeprazole or ranitidine etc. Dont have incomplete course of antibiotic as it may cause resistance mean the same medicine wont be effective next time if you didnt complete full course.Cough syrup given also can be continued as per your doctors prescription.hope this helps.
Thank you.
