Hi,

Smoking and alcohol intake can increase risk of heart disease, high cholesterol levels, fat deposition in blood vessels.Hence anti-platelet drugs like aspirin is prescribed to patients. Aspirin prevents the future risk of angina, stroke, heart attack or blockage of blood vessels. You can continue with the drug after ruling out any contraindications.

Increased bleeding tendency, heart burn, nausea, vomiting and gastrointestinal upset are some of the side effects of the drug. Complete blood count, bleeding time, clotting time should be checked before use.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
