What Are The Side Effects Of Using Ventolin Inhaler Post Its Expiry Date?

I have found an out of date ventilon inhaler (since 07/2014) would it be safe to give my son a puff of same?It was prescribed to him for mild symptoms but he has rarely used it but he could benefit from it now. Have a more recent one but can t find it.

It would be safe to use the out of date Ventolin inhalers but most likely it won't be effective and if he is having a significant asthma problem he really needs an unexpired inhaler
