Hi doctor, my daughter is 8 months old and is presently admitted in a hospital due to Dengue fever. Three days back we realized that she had high fever till 103f which did not reduce even after giving paracetamol so we rushed to the emergency but we were advised by the pediatrician to continue with paracetamol , but even after doing the same the fever rapidly increased to 104f the following day, at this stage we requested the hospital to admit her and undergo a blood count which the doctrs said was not necessary, but as the results came in we were advised that she was dengue positive and the count for platelets was 265,000.we were advised to give her plenty of fluids which she did not consume , so we requested the doctor for IV which they did. That day she was very ill and fever was high and she was always sleeping , her eyes were red and she breathed fast , and today she is a little bit ok with normal temperature , but still she was very weak and sleepy , her legs were itching , abdomen is warm while her thighs and legs seems cold , but she has now started to drink some fluid. There were two blood counts done and the result was 260,000 followed by 210,000.So far she is being prescribed by the doctor with Crocin ( paracetamol suspension) , Taxim –o ( Cefixime oral suspension) and Zincovit ( nutritional supplement) .Now as we are not aware if the pediatrician has handled any Dengue cases before (especially for babies) and since we still believe that the symptoms she has relates to the symtoms mentioned in several websites we would be happy if you could advise us if the present medical procedure is accurate and what would be recommended. Below is a list of symptoms she presently has. Increase and decrease of fever alternatively. Diarrhea _ Dark Green color. Reduced vomit (compared to the amount when she stared to have the fever) Itchiness in feet ( as she continues to rub her foot with the other) Color of palms and beneath the feet changed ( almost white in color) Swollen eyes. Abdomen and chest more warmer and Thighs , legs and arms chiller. Continuously sleeping and tiredness. To activity , no smile in face or interested in toys or any objects that she normally likes. Increase of consumption of fluids than before. Rapid increase of fever and after hours back to normal even without paracetamol. FYI- Weight one week before 8.5 kg and height 75 cm Thank you in advance J and R
