Hello, Welcome to HCM,
Typhoid fever is caused by Salmonellae typhi bacteria.Typhoid fever is contracted by the ingestion of contaminated food or water.
Early symptoms include fever, general ill-feeling, and abdominal pain. High fever and severe diarrhea occur as the disease gets worse. Some people with typhoid fever develop a rash called rose spots, which are small red spots on the abdomen and chest.
Typhoid fever is treated with antibiotics that kill the Salmonella bacteria. Several antibiotics are effective for the treatment of typhoid fever. Chloramphenicol was the original drug of choice for many years. Ciprofloxacin (Cipro) is the most frequently used drug in patients with typhoid fever.
