Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi! I´m a 29 year old male. question: I'm not too overweight, but do have a fat belly. 6 months ago I noticed the right side of my belly a little fatter than the left one. Went to the doctor to get an ultrasound, and it turned out normal with only plenty of gas around the abdomen and signs of collitis.
For the past 2 months I've had a mild pain next to my belly button about half an inch below to the right.
I exprience sometimes some other pains throughout the abdomen wich are due to the collitis I suppose, but this particular one near the navel worries me that it may be something serious. I don't know what to think.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood the concerns. It is uncommon to have one side of abdomen swollen as this can occur due to the gaseous distension of affected nerve supply of that side of the abdomen due to some large spinal problem thereby allowing protuberance. Now that you have pain one inch right to the belly button, I would advise you the following in such a situation. It is best to get an opinion of a General surgeon or a Gastroenterologist and get the CT scan and tests of blood, stool and urine. All these will lead to a proper diagnosis for you to get a prescription based proper medications as per the cause found and get cured. Also see that is all the investigations are normal then this may be IBS that is irritable bowel syndrome. Control of stress and anxiety do help a lot as well as avoidance of the foods and beverages that instigate or enhance the problems.
