Hello,
I have gone through your query and understood the concern. The progressive absence of the fetal pole associated with the history of bleeding is suggestive of a possible failed pregnancy. If it indeed is a failed pregnancy, there is no use in taking progesterone and hCG. If however, it is a threatened abortion, hormones may help if this condition is due to hormone deficiency. You should repeat the sonogram, preferably in the trans-vaginal route after another week. Serial serum beta-hCG titres also can be done to know if the pregnancy is progressing well. Doubling of titres every 2-3 days indicates positive response. Hope this helps.
