What Are The Withdrawal Effects Of Escitalopram Tablets?

Hi - I have been off escitalopram for over a month and am feeling extremely irritable. Also have had some crying. I followed my doctor s advice on how to get off it. I was always a happy and cheerful person, but am easily irritated now. Please help!

Hello,

escitalopram and similar drugs have to be very slowly withdrawn. This means that small dose de-escalations have to be tried and if the symptoms recur then the dose must be increased again.
You're probably suffering from SSRI withdrawal which means that your initial symptoms recurred after stopping your treatment more abruptly than you could manage.

I would suggest consulting your doctor again, because you'll need to start escitalopram again and try de-escalation at a slower pace.

I hope I've helped!
Kind Regards!
