What Can I Apply For Sprain In Right Hand?

my wife is 79 years old and hurt her right hand [ sounds like a sprain ] as she has been doing a lot of unwrapping and wrapping of boxed items after our move . She has tried to continue after she wrapped her hand but doesn't last very long . Is there something she can apply , or should she soak with something ? Dan
