Hello,

You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP. Relapse of Bell's Palsy occurs in a few so it is important to diagnose if it is some other medical condition that is causing you symptoms. In the meantime, you are suggested to take care of the affected side, apply eye drops to help eyes relax.

Do not force the weak facial muscles to do some heavy facial exercise. Take quality sleep. Get EMG done to detect any nerve damage. CT / MRI is done to detect sources that are causing pressure in the facial nerve. Few blood tests will be said to be done by your treating doctor to rule out Lyme disease and other infections.

Your treatment depends on what pathology is detected. Presently you should wear sunglasses / goggles to protect from direct exposure to sunlight. Apply lubricating eye drops for relieve and also get your eyes and symptoms checks by a GP. Get connected to a physical therapist. You may need to take antivirals and corticosteroids to control the symptoms.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
