Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Five days ago the upper back of my neck became very stiff and sore. it makes it difficult to rise fro a prone position and even from chairs, particularly if I am down for more than 15 or 20 minutes. I don t know of any injury that caused this. What is it and what steps should I do to correct this?
As what I can understand is this could be leading due to some Factors like - inflammation of the trapezius muscle, interscapular muscle spasm or a nerve root entrapment.
I would ask you to try taking hot water fermentation and do simple scapular and trapezius gentle massage by someone's help. Also, some exercise will be good.
I will even recommend you to not ignore your cervical spine as at most times there some abnormalities which are present and due to which there is inflammation in the trapezius muscle. Having an MRI done for the neck should help understand the curvature of the cervical spine and also the soft tissue injuries.
In my 12 years of experience, I have seen many cases with similar problems. and most respond well with physical therapy and exercises.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
