What Can Be Done For Swelling, Burning/itchy Vein On Thigh Above Knee?

I had the vein on my thigh just above my knee suddenly swell with burning/itchy type pain, it looked like a worm under my skin. It hurt a lot, and was hot to the touch. It left an awful purple bruise along where the vein was. It s happened before in my hands and other leg. What could it be?

there. could be so many things for ur. description..if its just a dilated. vein sclerotherapy with topical steroid ointment will work well.but better to rule out deep vein thrombosis or perforator incompetence.
