What Can Be Done For The Treatment Of Viral Meningitis?
My wife who is 51 yrs. old 250 lbs. 5 9 , has had a headache since Monday 7/23. Along with off and on fever and nausea. ER said it could be viral meningitis and wanted to do a lumbar puncture to confirm. We declined ed so far. Even with a confirmation, bed rest is the only course of treatment. This is what she has done since. Is there anything else we can do?
Viral meningitis is a disease which usually requires outpatient treatment. You are quite right, the treatment is bed rest and pain killers for headache.
However, it's better to go for Lumbar puncture to confirm viral meningitis and rule out other causes as it is quite a safe procedure in expert hands.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
