What Can Be The Cause For Child To Have Fever And Hallucination?

My 5yr old son had fever and audible hallucinations 5 days ago. He also had flu like symptoms and also complained of a stomach ache. He was given penicillin injection as well as ammocicillin syrup plus sophylin. Last night, he had fever and was hallucinating again. What could be the problem?

Hi... I have just gone through your query. I feel that what your kid is having a febrile delirium. Sometimes some kids behave funnily or abnormally with hallucination and self talking in the height of temperature. This is called febrile delirium. Sometime it can precede a seizure which can also occur at high fever.

Febrile delirium is defined as an acute and transient confusional state with high fever. Febrile delirium is usually seen during the first three days of fever. The episodes may last up to 10 min.
