What Can Be The Pain In Testicle In 2.5 Year Old Boy Indicate?

Hi, my son is nearly 2.5 years old, and this evening he began complaining about pain in his testicle (his left). There seems to be a mass, it is tender and painful when I touch it, it was not there at the last diaper change several hours before. Should I take him to the ER? or can this wait until Monday morning for his family doctor? He has no fever or chills.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
Thank you for asking question on health care magic.
Pain, swelling.tenderness and pain in the testicle occuring suddenly suggests that it may be Acute orchitis or torsion of the testicle.
Inguinal hernia also to be excluded.
Better contact surgeon immediately.
Take him to ER as soon as possible.
Hope this answer will serve your purpose

Pediatrician Dr. Taher Y Kagalwala's  Response
I think he may either have hurt himself or he has infection. In either case, an ER visit is unavoidable. You shouldn't wait until Monday!

Best wishes,

Dr. Taher
