What Can Cause A Dizzy And Spaced Out Feeling After Having A General Anesthetic?

I had a general anaesthetic a week ago to have veins removed in my right leg. even now to today I still feel odd, like I am dizzy or spaced out. is it the medication I am on or is it just the way it is. btw I was taking endone but stopped because it caused constipation and made me feel terrible

Hi,

Endone (oxycodone) is a narcotic. What you are having is withdrawal effect, as oxycodone causes psychological and physical dependence with chronic use.
Effect of general anesthetic or premedication (commonest-temporary confusion and memory loss) will not linger beyond few days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Tushar Kanti Biswas, Internal Medicine Specialist
