What Can Cause Easy Bleeding After A Dog Scratch?

My husband seems to bleed easy after the dog scratches him or licks his forearm. He isn t on any meds. and is not any longer a smoker, this has only started in the last 8-10 months. we thought is was due to the fact that he takes BC powders for headaches but he stopped taking them when this started happening.

Hi,

Bleeding after a scratch is common but if it is not stopping even after continued pressure, there is possibility of clotting factors deficiency seen in liver cell failure or thrombocytopenia seen in infections etc.

Drugs like Warfarin and Ecosprin may cause this symptoms.

Please check for platelet count, complete coagulation profile then consult your doctor, he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
