What Can Cause Hoarseness In Voice?

I have a 2 month old baby who has had a hoarse voice for several days now. He doesn't seem to have other symptoms (no temp., runny nose, etc.) We have been staining the trim in our basement this past week and were wondering if the fumes could be causing his hoarseness? We have had windows open but the smell does seem to come upstairs and spread throughout the house.

Hi...he could be having laryngomalacia and this could be the reason he is having this hoarseness or another possibility is he might be developing a cold. If the sound is increasing during breast feeding and if the sound is more evident during the baby's sleep, then mostly it could be laryngomalacia and it will subside as the kid grows up and mostly by 6 months. Do not worry.
