What Can Cause Severe Swelling In The Lower Legs And Discomfort In The Knees?

I have moderate to severe swelling on both lower legs/feet. Pitted edema. No pain or discolouration just a pressure feeling and sometimes slight tingling. Mild discomfort in knees but no other symptoms. Sudden onset under 36 hours ago, no improvement with rest.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

This could be an early sign of osteoarthritis. Consult an orthopedic and get evaluated. You might require an MRI scan for further evaluation.

Wishing you good health.

Thanks.
