Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Can Cause Swelling In The Arm After Gardening?
I have been gardening and planting flowers, and using a shovel. tonight, my hands and right arm are really swollen, I do not have any injuries like cuts, only bruises. This has never happened before. What could be the reason, and what can I do about it, or should I see a doctor at an emergency room. My doctor is always booked a couple weeks ahead.
It could be due to some allergic reaction due to accidental injury like thorn prick etc. Nothing much to worry and you can take antihistamines like Pheniramine for symptomatic relief. Generally, it will settle in a couple of days. If symptoms persist for long, you can consult a physician and get evaluated.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
