What Can Cause Swelling On The Lower Legs And Skin Bleeding After A Stroke?

my dad had a stroke on 4/23/18. He has sever swelling of the lower limbs up to his thigh. The skin is now cracking and bleeding. His entire body has a yellow tone as of this morning. My mom has called the ambulance and he refuses to go to the hospital. He refuses to take the required medication for the last 3 days.

Hello,

The swelling of both lower limbs can have different causes, but it's quite impossible to be a direct consequence of the stroke. If the stroke has caused weakness or total lack of movement of one side of the body, in those cases, the limb can swell, but only unilateral.

Lower limb swelling combined with the coloration of the skin can be present in different conditions like heart disease, kidney dysfunction, liver disease, etc. It is impossible to conclude the cause without at least a blood test, and a cardiac screening. So, I would advise to try and convince him to go to the hospital and run these essential tests.
