What Can I Do As My Knee Has Swollen?

I hit my knee on a rock and also may have twisted it when swimming two days ago. Yesterday it was kind of swollen but not too bad, it did however have kind of a swollen bump where I hit it( right below the knee cap). Yesterday I could not bend it because it felt like it was too swollen to bend and it was really stiff. Today it also is hard to bend but is alittle easier, I am however in more pain today. I seem to have hit it right on the bone so I m hoping that it s just a bruise on the bone. Would that make sense? Or is it something more serious? I hit my knee on a rock when swimming two days ago. Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It seems you have developed haemarthrosis knee due to bleeding inside the knee.

You must visit the ER at a hospital. X-ray of the knee must be done. Possibly the knee must be aspirated & pressure bandage applied (of course finer details to be decided by the attending doctor.)

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nirmal Chander Gupta, Orthopaedic Surgeon
