What Casues Pain And Discoloration On The Lower Legs?

my 27 year old son has had extreme pain (inability to put weight on it) and discoloration (purple) in his foot and lower leg for the last two months. His Uric acid levels were slightly elevated, but not off of the charts. The military clinic prescribed Ibuprofin. Any ideas?

If there is a history of injury,X Ray of of the painful area is required. Other wise brufen will cure him. But he will need rest also.
