What Cause Dry And Scaly Skin?

My fingertips recently started peeling . It started as if it was just dry skin. I handle a lot of paper in my job & I assumed that was what was causing it. As time s passed, however, my fingertips have become raw & tender to the touch. What could be causing this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It seems you have developed contact dermatitis. It is caused by many reasons including coming in contact with some chemicals.

As you have mentioned that you handle paper in your job, you should observe if the papers are having any chemicals on them which is irritating your skin.

Avoid frequent hand washing as it will dry your skin further. Keep your hands moisturized all the time. If you are not relieved then you should get yourself checked by a skin specialist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nazma Amman
