What Cause My Husband's Hands To Itching After Being Exposed To Cold?

When my husband (63) puts in hands in cold water or holds anything cold he gets a very severe itching for several minutes. Parts of his palm go red and he doesn't know what to do to stop it. It only lasts about 5 minutes but can go on for longer. Please may I have your advice.

Hello,
Welcome to HCM and thanks for your query.
Your husband has a rare allergy called aquagenic pruritus. If there are rashes of urticarial nature, it is aquagenic urticaria.
Hydroxyzine is sometimes useful in reducing the itching.
