What Caused Inflammation In Body And Red Face After Injecting Cortisone?

Good day. I strained the muscles in my lower back. My GP gave me an anti inflammatory injection, cortisone. Within a few hours my face was bright red and by the next morning from the top of my head to my buttocks felt as if it was inflamed and sore to the touch. My ribs, breasts just everything. That was on the 2nd, it is now 4 days later. It has abated a bit but everything still tender to touch. How long will this take to get out of my system and normality returned. My GP is on leave. Kind regards. Yvonne

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello Yvonne,

Thank you.Have a good day yourself.
There are several preparations of cortisone, some are short acting and clear from the system in a couple of days and the others are long acting and may stay in the system for upto a month. Since you are better don't worry, you would probably get over it soon. If you could find out what the preparation was and the dose, I would be able to give a better opinion.
Best wishes,
Dr. Noble Zachariah
