What Causes Charley Horse Type Cramps After Bending?

I had a C-section 3 years ago. I work out regularly. I have been having charlie-horse type cramps just under my rib cage, usually related to bending down or certain yoga positions. I don t get it from anything strenuous (ie. running) just bending over. You can actually feel the cramp and I just have to breath through it. Could this be the result of my pregnancy? Could I have herniated something? Is there anything we can do for it? I have upped my potassium. Any time I ask the chiropractor or trainer, they are baffled and just tell me to stregthen my core muscles; but that is exactly what triggers the terrible pain.

Hi,

Now you have been having these cramps while bending over or while adopting yoga positions. Your C section was 3 years ago and its unlikely that there's a abdominal wall hernia all this while. Firstly maintain proper blood levels of electrolytes. Cut down on Sodium and be well hydrated. take a daily dose of magnesium.

Before you do the bending and yoga warm up well. Start the stretches slowly and steadily without jerks. When you feel the spasm beginning slowly do the reverse action and maintain the stretch till you are free of the cramps. Please rule out rib cage cartilage inflammation (costochondritis) and degeneration of the thoracic discs.
