What Causes Lexapro To Become Ineffective After Prolonged Use?

I took lexapro 10 mg for 8 years. Stopped because of the side effects. Went back to it after 7 months. I tried 10 mg as usual but would t work, 15mg neither. I have been on 20 mg for the last days with no improvement. Should I try 30 mg. How come it was working fine for 8 years only on 10mg. I am 53 years old male.

Hello and thank you for your question.
This is reported in the psychiatric literature that sometimes once you stop an antidepressant medication it will not work again if it is reintroduced. I do not think going to 30 mg will help. You need to talk to your doctor about trying you on a different medication, perhaps one even with less side effects for you than the lexapro.
I hope you are feeling better soon.
