What Causes A Blood Blister In Vaginal Area?

Hi, recently I had intercourse with my boyfriend and during this I was very dry, he started to finger me very near my urethra exceptionally hard. After I was very sore and thought to check things out...I noticed a very small red/purple blood blister type of spot. Not painful at all...it literally looks like a tiny blood blister as if you would pinch your arm in a door or such. It has not grown and does not ooze at all. Seems to be shrinking a bit actually. If pushed on the color disappears and then returns shortly after. ??? Any thoughts

Hello,

You are suggested to use water based vaginal lubricants. Go for a longer foreplay so that you are nicely wet. Penetration in the dry vagina may cause injury, tear, infection or blisters. Take care of your hygiene. Wash your private area 2-3 times a day. Blood blisters may also form due to friction from clothes or rough sex, poor hygiene, stress or poor nutrition.

Keep yourself well hydrated. Take adequate water and fluids. Take food rich in vitamin E or you can also take supplements. Wear loose cloths. Let your under clothing be of cotton fabric. Do not touch or scratch the blood blister, avoid friction over the blister as far as possible. Stay away from any sexual activity. Keep the area clean. Blood blisters usually subside on their own with time. If they become painful, apply mupirocin ointment over them.

You can also take acetaminophen, one stat when needed. if the blood blister does not subside, you should get it clinically examined by a gynecologist. It can be due to infection like herpes or any other STD. So, they require examination by a doctor. If reports come positive then it will be treated with antibiotics and antivirals.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
