What Causes A Bruise On The Hips?

Hi Dr Siegel, the top of my right hip bone feels constantly bruised, even though there is no swelling or evidence of bruising. Some days it s not there, and other days I notice it. I did trip over about 6 weeks ago and noticed it has occurred since that time. I m fit and healthy and rarely get sick. Thanks, Nic

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You may have sprained your hip. I would like to advise X-ray of the pelvis with both hips anteroposterior view and frog leg views to rule out minor fracture. Please get it done from radiology center nearby you. Meanwhile start tab ultracet twice a day for pain relief. Take rest and avoid long time standing. Visit to orthopedic surgeon for detailed clinical Examination is recommended.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Jayesh Vaza
