What Causes A Bud Like Growth Inside The Anus?

My wife has a small bud like growth just inside the anus. It was small a couple of months ago, than swelled a little bit, than it got smaller again. Can you people help us out here, we are planning to go to a doctor.. which specialist do you suggest.
