What Causes A Bump On The Finger Of A Child?

We found a small bump on our 6 month old babys finger today. It is grey in color and is about the size of her finger nail, it is right behind her fingernail. It actually looks like a dried booger (that is what we thought it was when we first saw it). It is hard not soft. Should we be concerned?
