Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes A Cold Sore After Receiving A Hepatitis B Shot?
Is there any connection between hep b shot and cold sores? I got the 2nd shot in the series and within 3 days had my first cold sore at age 60. I am now having increased difficulty with my left eye, which had turned pink at the same time as I had come down with my cold sore. My eye is now stinging and has developed some matter. My eye has been slightly pink for about 2 weeks and is developing more problems.
Cold sores and eye infections are caused by viruses and would not have anything to do with the vaccine. You must have encountered the viruses from someplace else.
If your eye has been pink for 2 weeks, then you should see a doctor. Occasionally, pink eye can be bacterial and need treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Kathy Robinson
