What Causes A Dry Patch And A Small Knot At The Back Of The Head?

hello iam the mother of a 4 year old that has had a small knot in the back of her head for about 2 years now, its not red but is very dry, ts never bothered her as far as hurting or anything and recently another dry looking patch has developed, my dr seems to think its ringworm but with prior ringworm experience and the fact i have 3 other small children that do not have it iam reluctant to think that this is what it would be...do u have any other suggestions on what it could be
